Hi,

I m following ur article to pull the data from AD in a sharepoint list.I Followed all the above instruction accordingly.When i trying to execute a view

CREATE VIEW [dbo].[vw_ADGroup]

SELECT sAMAccountName AS [Login Name], givenName AS [First Name], sn AS [Last Name], displayName AS [Full Name], mail AS [E-Mail Address],telephoneNumber AS Phone

FROM OPENQUERY(ADSI, 'SELECT sAMAccountName, givenName, sn,displayName, mail, telephoneNumber FROM ''LDAP://dc=SHAREPOINTSERVE,dc=local''

WHERE objectClass = ''user'' and objectCategory=''person''

AND memberOf = ''CN=Administrators,OU=mhussain, dc=SHAREPOINTSERVE,dc=local''')

AS derivedtbl_1

I m getting this error : Could not open a connection to SQL.

Please do let me know where i m going wrong.Do my connection string in view is up to the way.

Mate! I'm so glad I saw this! I've been converting a system from SQL 2000 to 2005 and it's the biggest nightmare I've ever tackled. Did pretty much the exact same thing as you. An hour ago I was pretty stressed about it - but now everything's in sync again I'm gonna go have a cone and relax (that's not being flippent, I've had less that 10 hours sleep this week - the client is very anxious).

Any chance you can be a bit more specific on how exactly I setup the linked server access to AD in Part One: Using SQL Server Management Studio, as I'm not too familiar with this tool.

We are having the same issue - and cannot retract the solution...

Problems configuring it in a live environment. Works great on a single standalone server instance but when we try to configure it we get an error:

I also recently installed and was testing the MOSS Training site and have encountered the same "assignment not available" issue. Is there a way to unfreeze a particular piece of content so the user can continue?

We have the same issue on two servers. I've read through the installation guide and combed through the site content, but I can't find anywhere that you designate teh "instructor". I like the content of the training for our users, but the last thing I want to do is frustrate them more with SharePoint.

Did you ever find a solution to this. I need the tracking feature, so the standalone doesn't help me. I can reproduce the "assignment not available" problem in both our test and production environment.

I have WSS 3.0 and my email addresses weren't all (many not) populated when I migrated from 2.0. Is there a way to make my wss site go out and grab the AD information again for my existing users.

(all permission on site are done with AD)

The problem with my backups is that it never starts, I had a backup initiated for several days and it never did start. When I refresh the status I don't get no results...

Have anyone experienced their backups not starting at all with out any errors being reported?

This is great and I am wondering how I could expand it...I want to be able to dynamically pull in all of the groups in a certain OU and allow the user to select the group they want to show members of in the data view web part. is this possible?

I've encountered this issue a number of times, as well. Another way to fix it is to use the Office Diagnostics to restore the correct version of the dll.
