Hi Steven,
Thank you very much! I am glad to hear from you. Yes, I have some interesting stuff lined up, and I am excited about it. Mostly I will publish small tips that would be helpful to the developer community. Thanks once again.

Creating an Work Flow from Sharepoint Designer will help!
But, you cant create neat looking alerts from the SP desgner! :(
Hi Venkat,
With new versions of SharePoint, things have become very easy to do, for example, you can also create a component and use it to send out alerts. As you said, you can create a simple workflow to do the same. In earlier days, main headache was to implement the functionality. Now, developers have got rid of that problem, now at least you can implement things easily. With little more effort, you can make the alerts look good! :)
Thanks for the feedback!

Does this support for Infopath 2007?
While adding action it shows for database connection in dropdown but it does not give sharepoint connection option in dropdown menu.
Thanks
hi Vivek
This post was written for InfoPath 2003. In InfoPath 2007, you can still post to two connections but you are right, the drop down doesn't show two separate options. It only shows one data connection option. You will have to create two connections, both of the type "data connections", one will submit to a SharePoint library, the other will submit to a web service. Using web service, you can send data to the database.

Thanks Ahmed !!
Hi Ahmed
Thanks for your suggestion. Can you please tell me in brief how to implement this. Do I need to write code for its implementation.
Hi Vivek,
1. Create a new InfoPath project and select database option when creating the form. It will show you 5 options including database, webservice, blank, etc. Select database option and click Ok.
2. Next it will ask you to select a database. Now select a database. It will automatically create a data connection for you.
3. Now go to the submit options and create a connection that would submit data to a SharePoint library.
You may have to do some tweaking to make sure that data is being submitted to both db and SharePoint. I dont think you will have to write any code for this. Simple rules and submit options will solve your problem.

Thanks once again !!

I am having issues with MOSS 2007 Alerts not sending to groups where the test group is called DB Alert and there are 5 users in that group.
All members get the initial subscription email but don't get the daily summary alert of the announcement when is is supposed to send. Do you have any thoughts on this?
I need to pull all the documents from Sharepoint server 2007 (with MSDE installation).
Please help buddy?!
Hey Buddy,
I tried your tool, its looking kool.
I followed your instruction and got the option in Sharepoint.
When I entered the Site and Destination.
Its showing error as follows,
WS-SharePoint Downloader: Microsoft.SharePoint - Value does not fall within the expected range.
Please help gentleman..
I tried ur tool, its very useful, good work man.
Keep it up!!! :)
I want to download the whole document library of a site in one shot.
Is it possible with your software in Sharepoint server 2007?
I've tried this, and although it works in document libraries, the block is still applied to attachments in lists.
Any idea how to get around that one?
Hi Brent
Yes, this is a problem with MOSS 2007. If users are members of subsites and have adequate permissions but they are not members of any group in the top level site, then the alerts do not work as expected. Sometimes, they work and sometimes not! The solution is to add the members of your group (DB Alert) in a top level site. You can assign basic permissions (like reader) to the members. Try it and see if it solves your problem!
I have yet to see a tool that downloads all the documents from the SharePoint 2007. I thought there would be lot of them available so discarded the idea of upgrading this tool (SP DocPuller) for MOSS 2007. May be I will upgrade it for use with MOSS in future.
This web part was released as a trial. I didn't see much demand for it when I developed it so left it incomplete. Yes, it will still download the whole library but as far as I remember it won't keep the folder hierarchy intact. All the documents will be downloaded to the same folder.
It depends what type of attachments you upload. If filetype of attachment is included in the blocked list then it wont be uploaded. You will have to remove it from the blocked list.
Source would be handy as well... there are a couple of issues when working with large document libraries... like it takes 6+ hours to export 1400 documents thus far.
Hi
I dont know why this is not working our for me.
I written same line of code in item updated event handler and i want to remove the latest version after checking some properties of incoming file.
I think I need to look for somecollection of SPFile or SPItem....
If it workes will let you know guys!!...
Hi Yash
This is an old post. This code works in SharePoint 2003 version.
UNABLE TO OPEN SOME FILES
HI,
can any one help me out in creating a new folder in a sharepoint library on submitting a form.
Thanks in advance
Gunjan
Have a look at this product, integration CRM to SharePoint
It's nice artical. mostly required for Business Data Catalog and CRM Integration.
Just a question here: is this integration possiable only with MOSS 2007 or WSS 3.0 also can fetch data from CRM using BDC.
I am also not sure weather any tool was available to fetch data from CRM with earlier version of MOSS(WSS 3.0).
One more question please.
Web service that will be used to submit data to db: can it live on any server or it has to live on the same server where Sharepoint is installed?
Thanks a lot for your help
One more question: web service used to submit data to the database- can it live on any web server or have to be installed on the same server where Sharepoint is located?
thanks
Galina
The web service should be available on the SharePoint server where data is to be submitted.
You can find the code for creating a folder in SharePoint on the net. For the other task, you can do it in the two ways:
1. By using the eventhandler in SharePoint. When form is submitted, capture the form in the eventhandler and at that time create a folder.
2. Implement the functionality to create the folder in the form itself. for example,
In the internalstartup(), add the following:
EventManager.FormEvents.Submit += new SubmitEventHandler(FormEvents_Submit);
Then use following code to submit:
public void FormEvents_Submit(object sender, SubmitEventArgs e)
{
if (e.InputParameters.ContainsKey("XmlLocation"))
string Location = e.InputParameters["Source"].ToString();
Location = Location.Substring(0, Location.IndexOf("/", 8));
_DocLibLocation = Location + e.InputParameters["XmlLocation"].ToString();
}
else
_DocLibLocation = e.InputParameters["SaveLocation"].ToString();
/////////////////
FileSubmitConnection SubmitConnection = (FileSubmitConnection)this.DataConnections["SubmitForm"];
SubmitConnection.FolderUrl = _DocLibLocation.Substring(0, _DocLibLocation.LastIndexOf("/"));
SubmitConnection.Execute();
e.CancelableArgs.Cancel = false;
Create "SubmitForm" data connection before using the above code. SubmitForm dataconnection will simply submit your form to the SharePoint document library.
SSA,
Thanks a lot for the solution, but the problem is this that for eventHandling too i need to do scripting either in javascript or VBScript, can you please help me out with that?
Moreover i tried to do it in javascript... the code is:
function XDocument::OnSubmitRequest(eventObj)
// If the submit operation is successful, set
// eventObj.ReturnStatus = true;
// Write your code here
//Create string objects for each field we will use to modify the FolderUrl
var xnLocation = XDocument.DOM.selectSingleNode("my:myFields/my:strLocation").text;
var xnFolderName = XDocument.DOM.selectSingleNode("my:myFields/my:strFolderName").text;
var fc = XDocument.DataAdapters["SubmitForm"];
fc.FolderURL = xnLocation + "/" + xnFolderName;
//Execute the submit connection
try
fc.Submit();
eventObj.ReturnStatus = true;
catch(ex)
var txt = ex.description;
alert(txt);
//eventObj.ReturnStatus = false;
but it throws an exception that folder doesnot exist.
Any comments??
