Even though it might seem like bad memory in the server, it is most likely related to KB 946517. Symptoms include

When I create a new blank ITTWO site, then import the backup of the dev site, none of the webparts display ('Unable to display this webpart'). When I open a page in SharePoint Designer, the webpart shows: 'The server returned a non-specific error when trying to get data from the data source. If the problem persists, contact the server administrator'. Well I am the server administrator, and I don't know how to fix the stupid error.

it could be a simple fix, but still - this, to me, is another serious shortcoming. Surely this kind of thing should have been tested in MS labs before the templates were released?
