Hello. My name is Matt Passannante. I am the Director of Implementations and a Senior Trainer for SharePoint Experts. I may not have been visible in the blogging community up until now, but I assure you, SharePoint has consumed my life since 2003. I am an administrator at heart. I have worked as a consultant for many of the top firms in the western United States, I have authored and deliver the SharePoint Administration and Planning Bootcamp, and I am the President of the Rocky Mountain SharePoint User Group in Denver, CO. To put it simply, SharePoint is my passion.
I’ve started this blog, because I feel that there is a void in the SharePoint blogging community. Much has been made of the technical aspects of SharePoint branding and development, yet comparably, very little focus has been placed on the administration of SharePoint. I feel that there is an opportunity to provide education on, and visibility into, the business aspects of SharePoint and the role of the SharePoint administrator.
If you are a SharePoint administrator or a business wwner of some kind (i.e. project sponsor, stakeholder, or general representative of the business) and you are interested in SharePoint, this blog is for you.
Before I begin my blog, I’d like to share a short story with you. John Mayer (The blues guitarist) was once asked to describe his influences. He spoke about the culture of writing, and compared and contrasted two distinct writing styles; periodicals and references. Periodicals such as “People Magazine” or “Us Weekly” discussed the facts related to a topic at a specific point in time and fell out of relevance very quickly. References such as “Time Magazine” or “National Geographic” focused more on the personal impact and emotion of the topic at hand. This produced a more timeless quality that allows those stories to maintain relevance today. In music, John noted his references as Paul Simon, Eric Clapton, and Stevie Ray Vaughan among others.
I may not be the most active blogger in the SharePoint community, but I hope that my passion for SharePoint will provide you with a host of “references” related to SharePoint administration, the role of the SharePoint administrator, and the business aspects of SharePoint. I hope to provide you with useful and timeless content in the spirit of my own SharePoint blogging influences; Todd Baginski, Dustin Miller, and Heather Solomon.
